I'm back!

Well, actually I've been back since wednesday, but I needed that day to get used to being home, and yesterday I worked on some more notebooks. I actually wanted my first post to be filled with all the pictures of the great holiday I had, but my memorycard is stuck in the other laptop... So instead of sorting through all my pictures, I've been working on a new look for the blog. First part: the Header! I like it way better then the last one.
I want to change the background too and make everything look a little more professional :)

Here are some in progress scans of the header:

I hope you like it too! I'll be really back soon with pictures of my holiday! As soon as I get the memorycard out...

Notebooks!

As promised, pictures of the new notebook I made! I actually made two, but when I finished the last one it was too dark to take pictures. This one is for my friend from school :)

I though I'd do some in progress pictures too, so you can all see of what high quality my notebooks are ;)

This some pretty paper I used. It is designed by Sukie.

This is how the inside looks without the cover.

And this is how I make the cover :)

The outlines for on the cover.

I made a kind of Little Red Riding Hood, but this one likes to climb trees :)

And an owl of course. Nothing is complete without an owl.

And here's Little Red with her wolf.

 And everything in colour!

I decided stars do make everything prettier.

So that's it! I hope you like it and I really hope my friend likes it :) The glue is still drying now, so I have to wait till tomorrow to see if everything went well...

This might be my last post in a while by the way! I'm leaving for Rome on Monday morning, after which I'm off to Venice and Berlin. I'm so looking forward to the warm weather, and icecream and pizza... And the weekend I'm in Venice, there's a festival going on! There's supposed to be lots of fireworks and gondola races and lots of other exciting things going on! I'll be sure to share all my adventures here :)
If you're going away on a holiday too, I wish you lots of fun! And if you're staying I hereby allow you to have fun as well ;)

Lots of Leisure time...

The first part of the next school year I'll probably have to go to school for only two days a week!
We get to pick our own subjects or packages of subjects for the first half year, so I spent the last couple of days picking out subjects I like and arranging them to fit on only Tuesday and Wednesday and now I've got it all figured out :)
I went through a lot of subjects though. First I wanted to do 3D-modelling and programming, but that didn't work out. Then I considered Astronomy, English proficiency, Ancient cultures, Game design, Ambient interaction (I don't even know what that means), Artificial Intelligence and Chemistry... Sometimes it isn't so great being interested in a lot of stuff :P And all the time I actually wanted to do something more creative! But I'll have plenty of time to draw and make notebooks in my own time now :)
I've chosen English literature, Japanese stories, Worldmyths and Classic literature. I'm so excited! It's just the thing for me. I really love books... And I'll finally have more time to do all the other things I love to do too :)

Another thing that makes me happy: I got the clothbound version of Wuthering Heights from my mother! It's so pretty it makes me want to stroke it and say sweet things to it... Re-reading that I realise it kind of has the same effect on me as a cat...

So with this one I have three books of the Clothbound Classics... The other ones are Pride & Prejudice and A Chrismas Carol. The latter was actually a gift from me to my father, but I am already thinking of some schemes to steal it back when I move out... In my defence: he didn't even read it!

Tomorrow I'm spending the whole day at home, working on my notebooks. I'm really looking forward to it! I'll share some pictures of my hopefully pretty notebooks tomorrow :)

A lot

You know those times when nothing much is going on, and then suddenly everything seems to happen at once?
Well, I do. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty boring, with just school stuff. Then Thursday I went to Artis, the Zoo in Amsterdam (get ready for lots and lots of cute baby animal pictures!), Friday was my last day of school for my second year (woohoo!) and I was told for the first time that my presentation was the best one (okay, so there were only three other groups, but still! I really detest public speaking, so this is quite a victory for me!). Saturday I went to a circus themed party and I got my boyfriend to dance with me (another pretty big victory) and Sunday I went to an opera and yesterday I started on two new notebooks.
So now it's picture time :)

I just had to take a picture of this owl slide to share :) I used to play in this when I was little, but now I probably won't even fit through the hole anymore :P

I had no idea elephants could look fragile, but this little baby does! Her name is Mumba and she was only twelve days old when I saw her! You can watch her birth and first steps here. It's not that gross, but the elephants are screaming all the time, so you might want to turn the sound off...

I think turtletongues are pretty gross but also quite intriguing... They're just so large...

Seriously, what is better then a miniature lemur? I can't think of anything...

Well, maybe a yawning teethless baby lemur... :)

I don't now what it is, but this picure is really funny to me :)

The red ruffed lemurs in Artis are on an island, where you can get really close to them! Though this also makes it very difficult for me not to pet them...

Just look at those tiny fingernails! And the tip of his tongue that is poking out :)

The little one was in sunbathing position right before I took this picture, but he fell over... Poor little thing :)

It was also the first time in six years that a lion cub had been born! It kept making these cute mewing noises when his mother got too far away :)

And a baby sea lion! I guess it was really tired though, it was just lying there all the time...

His family was really enjoying themselves though!

The male loves to swim really close to the glass with this smug look in his face :)

I really love the elegance of these creatures. Double backwards summersoult? No problem!

You can just see the little head of the baby gorilla on the right arm of his mother :)

And last but not least: a tiny peacock!

I hope you aren't too dazzled by this picture overload :) I'll be back soon with some pictures of my new notebooks!
